🌟 Bula Wins the International Impact Book Award! 🌟
Celebrating Kindness, Culture & the Power of Storytelling
I am incredibly honored to share that my children’s book, Bula the Compassionate Fijian Rooster, has been selected as a winner of the International Impact Book Award. 🏆🐓
When I first began writing Bula’s story, I had no idea it would reach this far or touch so many hearts. What started as a deeply personal project — something I wrote while healing from the emotional toll of an unkind workplace — became something much greater: a story about compassion, quiet strength, and choosing to lead with empathy.
At its core, Bula the Compassionate Fijian Rooster is more than just a children’s book. It’s a love letter to the values I hold dear. It’s a celebration of kindness. It’s a tribute to my homeland, Fiji. And it’s an offering to children and families who long to see stories that reflect who they are and where they come from.
As a descendant of the Girmityas — Indian indentured laborers brought to Fiji under colonial rule — I carry with me a legacy of resilience, survival, and silent strength. Through storytelling, I hope to give voice to what history tried to erase. I want to preserve cultural memory, spark compassion, and inspire healing — one story at a time.
Receiving this award affirms something I’ve always believed:
Stories have the power to change the world.
They make us feel seen. They remind us that kindness matters. And they help us reclaim the parts of ourselves we may have forgotten.
To the team at the International Impact Book Awards — thank you for this beautiful recognition. And to every parent, teacher, child, and reader who welcomed Bula into your lives: thank you for believing in the power of gentle leadership, friendship, and love.
This is only the beginning. The next Bula adventure is on its way soon — and so are more stories from my heart to yours.
