Nafisa’s award-winning children’s book, Bula the Compassionate Fijian Rooster, has garnered praise for its celebration of kindness, multicultural storytelling, and emotional depth. She writes across genres, including children’s literature, psychological nonfiction, historical romance, and gothic fiction—each work infused with cultural nuance and emotional resonance.

When not writing or creating, Nafisa enjoys quiet time with her husband, daughter, and their beloved rescue cats—and is often found savoring her husband's latest culinary creation (usually with a book in hand).

This is one of those rare books where every page feels like a piece of art. The prose is lush and immersive, with sentences that made me stop just to reread and admire them. The setting Sapphire Shores and Vatu Vara feels vivid enough to touch, smell, and hear. I especially appreciated how the sea isn’t just a backdrop but a constant, almost mystical presence guiding the characters’ fates. Priya’s journey is emotionally raw and relatable, even as it unfolds in a world so different from my own. The romance is full of quiet moments that carry incredible weight, and when the emotional peaks come, they hit like a wave. I finished the last chapter with my heart full and my mind lost in the sound of waves.

This book feels like a memory you don’t want to wake from. The opening poem set my expectations high, and the novel more than delivered. Priya is a layered heroine she’s brave, but her courage often comes from moments of quiet decision rather than bold gestures. That felt refreshingly real. The journey to Vatu Vara is full of small, vivid details that give the island life before we even see it. I loved how the romance has an almost fated quality, hinted at in the beginning and confirmed with each chapter. The themes of love, fate, and the persistence of memory are handled so delicately that they leave you thinking long after you’ve closed the book.

I’ve read a lot of romance over the years, but few manage to balance beauty and emotional honesty the way The Serpent & The Saffron Bride does. The prose is lyrical without being overdone, and the pacing lets you fall into the story at a natural rhythm. Priya’s struggles feel authentic, and the relationship at the heart of the book is built on mutual respect and quiet, powerful chemistry. The setting almost becomes its own character, reflecting the changes happening within the people who inhabit it. I was deeply moved.

A slow-burn romance done right. The author doesn’t rush the connection between Priya and Nadeem instead, they allow it to grow naturally, making the eventual emotional payoff all the more rewarding. The imagery in this book is breathtaking, and the emotional depth is profound. I loved the way the author handled moments of vulnerability, showing how love can be both a risk and a refuge. It’s a book that will stay with me for a long time.

An intimate tapestry of glances, gestures, and unguarded truths. The author gives Priya and Nadeem room to breathe, which makes the turning points those small but decisive yeses so satisfying. The motif of saffron adds warmth and memory to everything it touches. By the final chapters, I felt like I’d watched two real people build something that could last. Beautifully told.
