In That Which I Imagine: Finding Beauty in Creation
Share
Lately, I’ve been struggling with PTSD symptoms, and when that happens, I find myself searching for meaning—trying to make sense of the tangled thoughts, the emotions that come in waves, the heaviness that lingers. It’s like my mind is grasping for something solid, something true, something that can bring me back to myself.
And then this phrase started repeating in my head:
"In that which I am able to imagine and make real, so that life can once again be beautiful and amazing."
At first, I didn’t know what to make of it. It was just there, like an echo in the back of my mind. But the more it repeated, the more I started to listen.
This wasn’t just a random thought. It was a message—one I needed to hear.
The Power of Imagination and Creation
When PTSD grips me, the world can feel dull, fragmented—like I’m caught in a space between past and present, unable to fully step into the now. But if there’s one thing that has always anchored me, it’s creativity.
I create because I have to. Writing, designing, crafting—it’s all a way to bring color back into my world, to shape something beautiful from the chaos. My stories, my art, my handmade pieces—these aren’t just things I make; they are pieces of me reclaiming my space, my joy, my sense of wonder.
And that’s when it clicked.
This phrase wasn’t just about imagination. It was about action. It’s not enough to dream—we have to create. The beauty I long for, the meaning I seek, it’s all waiting to be made real. I have the power to bring it into existence.
Bringing the Vision to Life
So what do I do with this revelation? I honor it. I make it real.
Maybe it becomes a piece of art—something moody, layered, textured with meaning. Maybe it finds its way into my writing, shaping the stories I tell. Maybe it’s a theme I weave into my handmade talisman pouches, whispering this truth into each stitch and charm.
Whatever form it takes, I know this: it will exist.
A Message for Fellow Dreamers and Creators
If you’re reading this, and you, too, feel like the world has lost some of its magic—if you’re searching for something to hold onto—let this be your reminder:
What you imagine has power.
Even when things feel heavy, even when the past tries to drag you back, even when the world feels colorless—you can create beauty again. You can bring something into existence that wasn’t there before, something that makes life feel amazing, even if just for a moment.
So let’s create. Let’s imagine. Let’s make real the beauty we want to see.
Because in that which we are able to imagine and make real, life can be beautiful again.
